Notes for this week follow: - We are planning to move the weekly developer meeting time so that one week it's early and one week it is later in the day. This will allow better participation across time zones and be fair to those in different time zones. James Fredley has started a DISCUSS thread to ensure people agree on this. - We discussed the current state of the grails guides & grails guide repositories. - https://github.com/grails/grails-guides - should be marked as a template library for people to create grails guides - we intend to rename it to reflect that - https://github.com/grails-guides - each repository in this organization is a guide - this needs updated - anyone having time to modernize these would be helpful - Various Tooling was discussed: - Tools: - 1Password - for storing shared build secrets - YourKit - for profiling - IntelliJ - for people working on grails - We intend to reach out to these organizations again in the coming weeks and update the website with an acknowledgement of their support - grails.org domain & dns migration - James F is setting up meetings to discuss the transfer of our domains from OCI to ASF - grails-cache merge - we reviewed the discussion over the grails-cache merge and have decided to move forward with a vote thread https://lists.apache.org/thread/ryjt824tnny7yht2cho7trr3stsj9mft - we are discussing moving to a mono repo per Michael's original suggestion - see https://lists.apache.org/thread/yb4dog4j32s92561h9jzbs9h0q0yhmvy for discussion - github action runners - We've discussed the slowness of the github action runners and the capacity limits. - James D is going to discuss options with ASF infrastructure, but we are going to see if it's possible to run private action runners to eliminate any slowness - Brandon Howard has offered private hosting to assist - We reviewed the current Grails Marketing push: - Conferences - the upcoming ASF conference in the fall & attending future ones. - Modernizing documentation - this includes documenting more modern deployment means - updating stale documentation (including docs.grails.org) - updating the grails guides to the latest grails version - As we move towards a mono repo, it will be easier to enforce code standards. We have discussed setting up code standards under ticket: https://github.com/apache/grails-core/issues/13754 - Status of the Apache Grails Snapshots - James D has begun the initial work to get snapshots working. Several PRs will continue to be merged over the coming week to get snapshots fully working. He is working with infrastructure to get the secrets fixed. - See discussion thread previously mentioned on the repo merger for more information. -James
