Hello everyone,

On behalf of the PMC, I'm happy to let you know that Gustavo de Morais has accepted the invitation to become a Flink Committer.

Gustavo has been a dedicated contributor to the Flink ecosystem over the past two years. Based on the project statistics, Gustavo has authored 74 PRs, provided over 110 reviews, and designed 3 major FLIPs spanning key technical areas:

Multi-Way Join Operator (FLIP-516): He authored and drove this major feature for the Flink 2.1 release. This operator is crucial for optimizing and managing large state sizes in complex join operations. He also worked closely with contributors from other companies to further improve the initial implementation.

FROM/TO_CHANGELOG built-in PTFs(FLIP-564): He is currently leading the initiative to support FROM_CHANGELOG and TO_CHANGELOG built-in PTFs to handle custom CDC formats, with the first part of the feature already landing in the Flink 2.3 release.

BYTES-to-STRING CAST (FLIP-568): Gustavo detected and corrected a design flaw in our upsert key derivation logic on string handling. By introducing strict BYTES-to-STRING CAST with UTF-8 Validation Utilities, this work significantly improves our data validation standards within the engine.

Beyond his code contributions, Gustavo has shared his work on Multi-Way Joins at Flink Forward 2025.

Please join me in congratulating Gustavo for becoming an Apache Flink committer!

Best,
Timo (on behalf of the Flink PMC)
