The problem with current implementation is

FlinkLogicalJoin flinkLogicalJoin = (FlinkLogicalJoin)
FlinkLogicalJoin.CONVERTER().convert(join);
{code}
in {{JoinToMultiJoinRule#isIntervalJoin}}.
Which results to {{HepRelVertex}} in {{RelSubset#add}}.
In 1.35 it was made throwing error for such behavior

In fact in order to answer a question whether it is interval join or not there
is no need to call {{FlinkLogicalJoin.CONVERTER().convert(join)}} at all.
