Flink SQL does not support state backwards compatibility. This does not seem to
be state somewhere in the documentation. We should add a section to the
respective section of the docs (e.g. [Upgrade
Applications|https://ci.apache.org/projects/flink/flink-docs-release-1.13/docs/ops/upgrading/]
and the [Flink
SQL|https://ci.apache.org/projects/flink/flink-docs-release-1.13/docs/dev/table/overview/]
documentation.
