I don't think that outdated slides are too much a problem because we
also include the date of the talks. So people can judge by themselves
how old the talk (and information is).

If we keep an eye on it, and update this section in about 3 month
intervals (or maybe even 6 month) to remove old stuff should be good
enough. And this interval does not put too much effort on the community
to keep it up to date in a useful manner.

If we only point to slideshare accounts, the problem about old slides is
even more difficult to handle, because we (as a community) cannot remove
old slides from those accounts and rely on the cooperation of the
slideshare account owner. Furthermore, I would expect the number of
slide decks over all slideshare accounts to be growing -- thus making it
even more difficult for users to figure out which slides are relevant or
not. (I doubt that people remove old slides -- it seems that slideshare
is often used as historical backup of all available slides).

Thus providing a selection of talks over the website seems to be a good
idea.
