I was a little stumped with the instructions here[1] because it did not explicitly state that you had to $ cd into the directory of the local git repos before running the command: $ git config user.email myusern...@apache.org That simply gave me an error because I did not first navigate to that repo: $ cd ~/git/flex-sdk
