I must say that I am relieved that it worked. I was sure that I was going to crash the site somehow. But anyways, Intellij made it very easy. At the Intellij launch screen, there is an option for "check out from version control." Just click that, add a repo, click the checkout button, find the file and edit it right in Intellij, then press the commit button. Couldn't be easier.
