I, personally, don't understand the "openness" complaint here but I've seen similar sentiments before.

If I have a vision or idea for something and go ahead and build it [and/or try to donate it]; I should not be discriminated against because I didn't discuss it on the list first. The complaint makes it sound like people need permission before doing anything and I believe that 'ideal' is not conducive to an effective open source project.

 It is 'my vision' and it does not need discussion in committee.

Presumably, discussion can be had at the time of donation or sharing. But, I grow frustrated by constant complaints of "it wasn't discussed with us first".
