been playing around w/it via ESRI's flex API, they have an example here:

outside the US (eg. thailand, australia) still kind of so-so in terms of coverage & resolution (though it seems to be getting a bit better). better than a sharp stick in the eye i guess for some apps.

we're also slowly eyeballing it to replace google maps in some geoserver based apps (no, it will never really replace google maps in terms of data but since the google flex bits are dead-ended, kind of no choice). looking at openscales (seems to be another "dormant" flex project) to replace the google API--not sure if modestmap is up to dealing w/geoserver (which provides local spatial data & some analytical functionality).
