Eric,

I can't reproduce either issue.  On IE, it looks like you have a rendering
issue -- in particular it looks like there is an issue with your graphics
card/driver.  I used to have the same issue with an older ATI driver every
time IE tried to render anything with shadows in the CSS (we do).  It might
also have something to do with you not having Flash Player installed.

The problem with switching the download link is that our "CMS" won't allow
us to pull down the closest mirror site to the user.  We have to rely on
3rd party CGI scripts, which won't let us track downloads or do any error
tracking.  The flash applet lets us get around those issues.
