Tim,

You are not alone.  We have had several people complain about this
confusing UI.  The good news is that this has been fixed in the develop
branch and will show up properly in the next release.

If you have some bandwidth, you could test out how the new UI looks by
checking out the code from SVN here:
http://svn.apache.org/viewvc/flex/utilities/trunk/
