one incarnation will be JDBC based and look like ( read: 100% backward
compatible with) the existing solution. But then there will be one where
you will be able to manage roles, permissions via your OAuth server (aka
Keycloak)... and we are thinking about throwing an implementation based on
Open Policy Agent (popular in the Kubernetes world) into the mix.

Not there yet, but that is the plan in broad strokes.
