... I started to cleanup the Jira tickets, but still need some help. As
usual we have a long tail of open issues assigned to version 1.9.0 that
are very unlikely to get resolved, especially those with numbers smaller
than 1000. I've created a default sink for these long running/abandoned
issues (see version "3.0.0").
Currently we have for version 1.9.0:
- 70 resolved
- 26 in progress
- 139 open
If you know that any of the 139 open tasks won't be done for 1.9.0 then
please move them to 3.0.0 (we'll decide later what to do with them). If
you don't have write access on Jira then just let me know and I'll do it.
Any remaining tasks smaller than 1000 will then be reassigned by me to
3.0.0 in a couple of days if no one complains.
If you are working currently on a pull request without a Jira ticket
then please create one, assign version 1.9.0 and make sure that the PR
title is formatted properly.
Please check if there are any of your ongoing and resolved tickets
without an assigned version and assign one ("fix Version/s"); most
likely you'll want to assign 1.9.0.
As said, it has been more than a year since the last release. Let's make
sure that at least our changelog is as accurate as possible and reflects
all changes that happened since then.

I'll start triaging the tickets in Jira... anything that isn't being
worked on will be moved to a hypothetical version (probably 3.x or the
like, proposed by James) to avoid that some really long running
tickets immediately reappear for the next release. After a while we
should have a look at these old tickets and decide what to do with
them. Doesn't help to drag them around for years if we don't pick them
up (or they are not relevant anymore). That's something for another
day then.
So... please let me know if anything specific needs to be on our radar
for this release. I will start the official release process very soon.
