Thanks all for coming! This time we celebrated the 3.4.0/1 release/s and I got a discussion started that we should continue here on the mailing list.
In the past, CouchDB started doing things that were thought ridiculous by the larger development world (a not-SQL database, JSON for storage, HTTP as an API, JavaScript in the Database and on the server etc.) and all of these became mainstream before long (admittedly, we did a few things that didn’t go anywhere as well :) — What I’d like to know now, what are the next things we could build into CouchDB that might not be super obvious today but could be a solid choice in a few years? Does it even make sense for a project as mature as CouchDB to ask this question? I’m specifically interested in new ideas that have not been discussed on this mailing list or GitHub, not incremental improvements or deprecations to things we already have (of those we have plenty on the roadmap :). What’s next?
