fix the mixed use of the word "method"
The basic.rst file explains how an HTTP API uses HTTP methods to interact
with an API. Further use of the word "method" throughout the API docs, however,
use it different ways.
These commits hopefully clarifies and cleans up the mixed usage.

fixed `method` terminology usage w/database
The basics.rst includes an explination of how
an HTTP API works (leveraging HTTP methods
rather than inventing new ones), but the API
reference docs misuse the term thereafter.
