Thank you these are good ideas. I think having this "proxy" in cordova-ios does 
not sound right, too.

What do you all think about a) and b)? I am not sure which one to prefer. I 
hope I find time to work on this soon and move this forward. I tend to prefer 
b) with a method built in cordova-ios to hook into from a plugin.

The second question is if we would want the "proxy" plugin as an official 
Apache plugin or 3rd party plugin?
