(I think we don't really use cordova-discuss any more, and the existing cordova-common PR does not look like the right place to track and discuss.) In general I would not favor considering this idea for Cordova 9, would be happy to give my reasons on GitHub. I think it would be best if you would be willing to raise the new issue.
