I would put the mode flag as out-of-scope for now, we can re-asses later if
need be.
I could not get this to work, can you please post instructions for
verifying it?
My steps were:
```
cordova create newproject
cordova platform add android
// modified the root config.xml with the fragment from above
cordova prepare
// checked androidmanifest.xml for changes, none seen
```
