I'm asking because of this: https://twitter.com/TheASF/status/472089851693891584
So, another criticism of the ASF is the fact that as committers we have zero say on the process because committers aren't members, and only members can really cause any change. I question the effectiveness of this given that the board for the most part hasn't changed in years. Furthermore, as a project of the ASF, we have no idea what's going on with the project that holds the copyright for our code. Now, this isn't a big deal, except when you're on the conference circuit trying to convince people why they should help you instead of creating a "PhoneGap killer". Do I care about people outside Apache? Yes, because they are the ones who CAN make Cordova better. Now, I know certain people on the ASF board (who deleted their blog post so I can't link to it here, but I'll check Internet Archive) don't give a rats ass about getting more people involved, but when I give talks about Cordova, it's hard to say "come help us" when it's Apache and they're basically giving their code to an org that would rather they didn't exist. Seriously, can you say in good faith to donate code to the ASF? I can based only on the fact that it's open source, and that you get to work on an interesting project. The fact that we hardly ever ship anymore thanks to "The Apache Way" and the cognitive dissonance that it's caused in its wake really hasn't helped matters. Of course, perhaps the Apache Way was never meant for modern software products outside of Big Data.
