I do object to using members-notify@ for those news, as that's outside of the scope defined at [1]. That list was created "for the limited purpose of sending formal notifications to the membership as a whole", because some members clearly expressed their objection to getting "too much email" from the ASF. Another objection has been raised on board@, let's discuss there. Going forward I suggest sending to members@ with a [NEWS] subject line header.
