Hi, folks. Forwarding a message from The Wilson Center. These folks will
be presenting a keynote at ApacheCon, but I wanted to also share this
other opportunity that they mentioned, in the hopes that someone here
will be available/interested to participate

Dear Rich,
We recently began another project that is part of our THING Tank
Initiative <https://www.wilsoncenter.org/thing-tank> at the Wilson
Center. Beyond understanding specific tools and events, we are
interested in understanding the relevant *communities* and
*paradigms* they exist in and how they are furthering the conversation
on open science in the US and around the world. If you want to read up
on more of our thoughts here, check out our recent blog post
<https://www.wilsoncenter.org/blog-post/thing-tank-introducing-converging-communities> describing
these initiatives.
We are partnering with the Center for Scientific Collaboration and
Community Engagement (CSCCE <https://www.cscce.org/>) to make profiles
of scientific communities. The goal of these profiles is to better
understand low-cost and open hardware communities and adjacent
communities in the open science ecosystem. These profiles will build off
CSCCE’s first round of Scientific Community Profiles
<https://www.cscce.org/resources/scientific-community-profiles/> that
analyze community structure and function and will include opportunities
to think about the diversity, motivations, and backgrounds of the
relevant communities in this space.
We would love to include**the Apache Software Foundation in this set of
Scientific Community Profiles. To do so, we’d ask for you or someone in
a Community Manager-type role to respond to a survey about your
community that will be conducted verbally with CSCCE and the Wilson
Center. The survey will take approximately one hour, with a minimal
amount of preparation (approximately 30 minutes). Final surveys will be
included on the CSCCE and Wilson Center websites, included in blog
posts, and will be available for your use, as well.
Let us know if you are willing to participate and we will be in touch to
schedule a time to talk.
Thank you for considering!
