I am meeting with the UC Researcher to discuss the spam issue & the apology next Wednesday at 4PM ET. Others are welcome to join if they wish. My key goal is honestly to get a gauge on how well they understand that their apology was even worse than the initial problem. If they don't understand, I'd like to keep them out of IRB hot water and become good netizens.
