I think the only side consideration was that if there was an ASF-level account, through their special program for 501(c)(3) nonprofits, then that enables additional capabilities and opportunities for exposure. It would still be up to individual PMC's to create/publish their videos, but we'd be able to avail ourselves of the other special features. But maybe it is not worth the trouble. I just thought I'd mention it, since I had not seen this Youtube non-profit membership thing before. -Rob > On Wed, Feb 22, 2012 at 2:52 PM, Rob Weir <robw...@apache.org> wrote: > >> I was thinking of starting up a Youtube channel for Apache OpenOffice, >> where we could post short videos, demos, tutorials, etc. While >> investigating how this could be done I came across the following page >> that describes how a registered non-profit can set up a special kind >> of YouTube Channel, with increased upload capabilities, as well as >> other benefits. >> >> Aside from benefits related to YouTube, this program also gives free >> AdWords, etc. As a registered 501(c)(3), ASF is eligible for this >> program. >> >> See: http://www.youtube.com/nonprofits >> >> Is there any interest in doing this at the ASF level? >> >> -Rob >> > > > > -- > Thanks > - Mohammad Nour > ---- > "Life is like riding a bicycle.
