Lol. Identity management, gender, and mailing list sociology are all interesting components of the proposal, but they don't mesh at all with how we normally think about these things.
Anjana, if you want to keep exploring the boundaries of what is possible with respect to those ideas and how they all intersect, I encourage you to do so. While I don't recognize your name amongst our committer base, realize that open source participation here is really like attending a pot-luck dinner: bring something you're sure others will appreciate, and don't bogart the potato salad. So proposals backed by commitments, or better yet functional code, are going to get much different treatment than pie-in-the-sky type offers. Best of luck. As one of the ASF sysadmins I've been waiting for the women@ conversation to wind down before shutting off that list, and am optimistic a more workable framework for dealing with such interests will emerge from the comdev (this) PMC via this list. ----- Original Message ---- > From: Shane Curcuru <a...@shanecurcuru.org> > To: dev@community.apache.org > Sent: Fri, July 30, 2010 8:36:59 AM > Subject: Re: [proposal] integrating wo...@a.o into an Apache code of practice > > Anjana G Bhattacharjee wrote: > > Just a note to mark 7 days since the date of this proposal - thank you for > > all responses so far - still listening ;-) best, A > > Oh, sorry, I had thought it was an intellectual exercise to spur some new >thoughts and get some random golf-related links into our archives for some >reason. > > -1, because we've shown numerous times that broadly scoped mailing lists > that >aren't controlled by a healthy PMC won't work. > > -1 also because we have no need to provide anonymization services like the >proposal notes the woman@ address would be used for.
