We need to figure out if we should go the same path as FileUpload (FU) and split up this component into multiple modules such that we can keep on supporting javax while allowing people that want to use jakarta to do so. Backward compatibility is important and we should strive to maintain it where practical. Remember that some stacks might not be able to update as fast as others. We will release FU soon as a milestone release which will help us assess the impact of this approach. Then I think we can come back and look at Commons Email.
