[geometry] Preparing for 1.0-beta1-rc3

Hello,

I'm about to close GEOMETRY-100, which is a blocking bug that Baljit found with 
rc2. After that I plan to start getting rc3 ready for another vote. Any other 
issues that need attention before that?
