The STATISTICS-7 ticket is not relevant for the exciting regression proposals we have received. Would the two authors of these regression proposals please reference ticket https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/STATISTICS-8 . Sorry it is a bit of a rush job, I can iterate it a bit when I have more time.
Since I was asked about how many will be accepted. My understanding is that how many GSoc slots Apache gets, is out of our hands, as Google pays the students. However I think there are a lot of other benefits to contributing to a high-visibility library and project like this and everyone who applies is more than welcome to stick around and build your scientific and engineering track record. We will help you get started contributing whether or not you are in GSoC.
