How about an [ANNOUNCEMENT] mail to dev@commons.apache.org and
u...@commons.apache.org ? This way you will reach a big group of people.
Further more here are some more tips for getting attention:

- Use twitter to spread the word
- blog about it or post articles to websites like dzone.
- Put some more documentation in the readme.md
- add some tests and a Travis build
