it is true that the lots of methods of DataConfiguration have not been integrated into the main configuration interfaces. However, there are at least some new generic get() methods that allow specifying a result class and are directly connected to the data conversion facilities. This is maybe a bit less convenient than having a rich interface with many possible result types, but one can achieve the same results.
