With my Tomcat committer hat on: No. Primarily because Tomcat doesn't have a dependency on collections and hasn't for some time. Tomcat does depend on other Commons libraries that have yet to be converted to generics (pool, dbcp) and it causes absolutely no problems whatsoever. Don't get me wrong, I am all for generics but please don't go parading Tomcat around as a reason to do so.
