OK thats what I guessed, - is there a JIRA ticket for this? I had a similar thought for validator - except I don't find time for it atm. I've played with this - have a thing for Commons IO that serializes/de-serialies file system info to/from XML somewhere lying on my hard drive. Anyway, was interested in following along - might even do some code.
