Although I agree with your preference for the
maven-remote-resources-plugin, I strongly disagree with the resolution
to not handle these things in the commons-parent pom. If there is no
other way to resolve that, then I'd be in favour for a majority vote.

Your suggestion below is, IMO, a variant of (B). If you're happy with
it, I am well.
