+1. I think this is the way to go.

Just finished reading my way through the thread.

Christoph's use case seems very valuable - the ability to linearize
the object creation so that not all of the creations are needed if
objects are handed back, so having a JIRA ticket for 1.5 seems a great
way to go. It doesn't seem to me from the discussion that the proposed
1.4 will make matters worse than they are under 1.3.
