Many weeks ago, I reported that the Groovy project is having to stay with CLI 1.0 since despite all the great bug fixes and effort that Henri and Brian put in to create the CLI 1.1 distribution, there are some showstopper bugs that got introduced. I put one test case onto JIRA but have not had time since to investigate the issues myself and it seems no-one else has either. There was some discussion about whether to progress the 1.x line or the 2.x line as the main line of CLI but I am not sure a final decision was ever reached. One outcome though was that a 2.0-SNAPSHOT jar was released to the Maven 2 repository. Unfortunately, I haven't had time to experiment with this to see if all the problems are solved and the Groovy project could be changed to depend on CLI-2.0 instead of CLI-1.0 -- assuming a formal release of 2.0 occurs. Groovy 1.1 will be released depending on CLI-1.0 I believe. It has to be said I think that the lack of activity on CLI does seem to indicate that it may in fact be a project in decline and that the Groovy project may do well to look to another library. I don't intend this as any form of threat or promise of negative publicity, I simply mean it as saying, CLI is not actively being developed and may be the reason is that there are better architectures in other packages that naturally supercede CLI. Having said this, I hope next month to be able to investigate all of the CLI issues a little more. -- Russel. ==================================================== Dr Russel Winder t: +44 20 7585 2200 41 Buckmaster Road m: +44 7770 465 077 London SW11 1EN, UK w: http://www.russel.org.uk/
