That seems like kind of a slippery slope. We could just put all api
parameters into a map. I don't really care all that much, though I
think it negates some of the advantages of having interfaces and the
contracts they provide. That could be fixed by using an object instead
of a map, we'd get the benefit of not having to pass around each
parameter in every method call (which admittedly looks like its
getting messy) but still have some protection against just stuffing
arbitrary details in. I'm not a java expert though, so this may be
wrong.

My only real complaint is that it becomes more difficult for the API
consumers to manage a details parameter, and our documentation is
currently very lacking in exposing exactly which details exist or the
info on parameters inside parameters.
