Hi,

To register a ISO or a template, one must choose the operating system
represented
by the template/ISO from the “OS Type” drop down list. If the “Type” is not
listed,
one must choose “other".

However, the “OS Type” list is hypervisor dependent. For example, FreeBSD is
not a
supported type for XenServer and neither is Apple Mac OS X. But the full list is
presented anyway. LXC also won’t support most types.

Many a times users have chosen an OS Type only to have ISO creation fail on
XenServer.

It would be nice if CloudStack would show a filtered list depending on the
hypervisor
for ISO/Template registration.

I have filed an RFE https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CLOUDSTACK-4957.

Regards.
