I really question why the current netapp plugin exists in ACS at all to begin with at all. It basically just manages LUNs and such in really has nothing to do with ACS or cloud functionality (that I can see). I'd be all for trashing it.
Is there any chance whatever you're working on will have only open source (and non-GPL) build dependencies? Netapp integration to OpenStack seems to be all xml/http based. Is there any chance yours can be the same? Or at least the java binding be open source, as they just call the xml/http API?
