I think making it mandatory is good due to following: 1. The guestOS version is upgraded over time the support for old OSes may be withdrawn, a this point I do not have exact dates on those though. 2. We are bundling Hypervisor tools onto the system Vms and with dynamic scaling they will work seamlessly.
