Using the svn version from cmislib solved the issue.
(the issue seemed to be caused by first trying unauthorized access and then
authorized access)
For our use case we will need to update cmislib-alfresco-extension to work with
the svn code as well, which we will contribute.
Can other verify that svn code works, and maybe someone could inform us when
the svn code would/could be released?
