According to the CQL 3.0 specification :

 ____A UUID constant is defined by hex{8}-hex{4}-hex{4}-hex{12} where hex is an 
hexadecimal character, e.g. [0-9a-fA-F]and {4} is the number of such 
characters. ____

Cassandra UUID representation  = 28 characters  ,  112 bits  , 14 bytes

But...

A UUID is a ____ 16-byte (128-bit)  ____ number. In its canonical form, a UUID 
is represented by 32 hexadecimal digits, displayed in five groups separated by 
hyphens, in the form 8-4-4-4-12 for a _____ total of 36 characters  _______ (32 
digits and four hyphens). 


Standard UUID representation =  36 characters  , 128 bits , 16 bytes
