Ivan and Jack, we have recently committed the change to bypass writes to the journal.
In the scope of that work there was the idea that we needed client side changes and also other bookie side changes to deal with the possibility that a Bookie loses its data. this is the BP for reference https://github.com/apache/bookkeeper/pull/2706 What is your plan for contributing to the second part of that work ? Only disabling the journal is not safe and it is very dangerous The discussion on the PR is very long and I am not sure we reached a general consensus.
