Hello everyone, I am Krish Kalra doing my 3rd year B.Tech from IIT Delhi. I
am interested in contributing to the beam project for GSoC 2026. My current
focus is learning distributed systems and infrastructure for large-scale
data/ML workloads. I’m specially interested in how Beam preserves execution
semantics while running across different runners, and in performance
aspects such as fusion, batching, splitting, and the Fn API execution model.

I’ve worked with backend systems (Flask, PostgreSQL, REST APIs) and have
been studying distributed processing frameworks (e.g., MapReduce-style
models) to better understand pipeline execution behavior rather than just
API usage. My goal is to contribute in areas related to performance,
correctness, or developer tooling — likely starting with smaller issues to
understand the codebase before moving deeper into the portability/runtime
layers.

Could someone please add me to the Beam Slack channel to learn more?

Looking forward to learning from the community and contributing.

Thanks,
Krish
