Graphhopper is a really good Java project that provides a routing engine (Apache License).
One of the motivation for writing Baremaps in Java was to have all the major components written in the same language (Map, IP to location, Geocoding, Reverse Geocoding, Routing, etc). The fact that Graphhopper is written in Java and achieves high performance clearly influenced this choice.
