I'm guessing that the type "promotion" between bytes and string is just the
binary UTF-8 data, but the spec doesn't elaborate on what promotion [actually
means|https://avro.apache.org/docs/current/spec.html#Schema+Resolution]. This
should be clarified and check that the different language SDKs have the same
interpretation.
