We don't have one and I am unsure we can realistically set one. We rely on lots of third party libraries, package managers and continuous integration platforms that have their own policies. Trying to guarantee support when we depend on those which have their own deprecation policies might put us in a position where we can't (with a realistic amount of effort) support a specific target platform. > It looks like Homebrew deprecated support without declaring the last > supported version. > > Homebrew discussion: https://github.com/orgs/Homebrew/discussions/7044 > > > On Sep 22, 2026, at 15:43, Sutou Kouhei <[email protected]> wrote: > > > > +1 > > > > I checked PyArrow's download stats for macOS Intel at > > https://sql.clickhouse.com/ with the following query: > > > > SELECT countIf(filename LIKE '%macosx%x86_64%') AS macos_x86_64, > > count() AS total, > > round(100 * macos_x86_64 / total, 2) AS percent > > FROM pypi.pypi > > WHERE project = 'pyarrow' > > AND date BETWEEN '2026-08-22' AND '2026-09-21' > > > > You can see the result by curl: > > > > $ curl > > 'https://sql-clickhouse.clickhouse.com/?user=demo&query=SELECT%20countIf%28filename%20LIKE%20%27%25macosx%25x86_64%25%27%29%20AS%20macos_x86_64%2C%20count%28%29%20AS%20total%2C%20round%28100%20%2A%20macos_x86_64%20%2F%20total%2C%202%29%20AS%20percent%20FROM%20pypi.pypi%20WHERE%20project%20%3D%20%27pyarrow%27%20AND%20date%20BETWEEN%20%272026-08-22%27%20AND%20%272026-09-21%27%20FORMAT%20PrettyCompactMonoBlock' > > > > ┌─macos_x86_64─┬─────total─┬─percent─┐ > > 1. │ 332854 │ 335300029 │ 0.1 │ > > └──────────────┴───────────┴─────────┘ > > > > macOS x86_64 wheels account for only about 0.1% of all > > PyArrow downloads in the last 30 days (332,854 out of > > 335,300,029), so I think we can drop it. > > > > > > Thanks, > > -- > > kou > > > > In <CAD1RbrooLnZ6Z28BihLa4oebK=kzubry1m008tfus0awapo...@mail.gmail.com> > > "[DISCUSS] Drop macOS Intel support" on Tue, 22 Sep 2026 10:35:42 +0200, > > Raúl Cumplido <[email protected]> wrote: > > > >> Hi, > >> > >> We have started finding several issues [1], [2] on some of the Arrow > >> repositories due to Homebrew stopping their builds (and support) for > >> macOS Intel bottles [3]. > >> > >> macOS has stopped supporting macOS Intel on their latest (macos-27) > >> release. > >> > >> I'd like to propose dropping support for macOS Intel as we can't test > >> some of the setups anymore on our CI. > >> > >> Regards, > >> Raúl > >> > >> [1] https://github.com/apache/arrow-java/pull/1306 > >> [2] https://github.com/apache/arrow/issues/51402 > >> [3] https://docs.brew.sh/Support-Tiers#future-macos-support
