Is that actually true? I may be mistaken, but it seems Flatbuffers supports appending new fields to a table while ensuring both backwards and forwards compatibility: https://google.github.io/flatbuffers/md__schemas.html (see "schema evolution" at the end of this document) Regards Antoine.
