This has further been simplified, just download <http://people.apache.org/~bodewig/ant-env.zip> (this currently corresponds to svn revision 950083), extract it and run "java -jar ant-env.jar". If you find any issues, please attach them to <https://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=49366>. If there isn't anything major I'll ask the user list to give more exotic OSes a try as well later this week.
