You want: <delete includeemptydirs="true"> <fileset dir="${apps.dir}" includes="**/obj/" /> </delete> In the manual entry, this is what is meant by: the removal of empty directories can be triggered when using nested filesets by setting the includeEmptyDirs attribute to true.
