We've been discussing this on private for about a week, maybe you missed the discussion? Technically it's an interesting idea, but Java isn't as malleable as xml so creating your own control structures is *incredibly difficult* (I was going to say impossible, but hey it's software, you can always get something working if you invest the effort). My preference is for JRuby so that we can use rakefiles[1] as an alternative to xml. After 1.7.0 is released perhaps we should consider a vote (on user too) and see which language people like most?
