           Summary: debug line numbers not visible in Logfactor 5 with
                    Socket Appender
           Product: Ant
           Version: 1.6.1
          Platform: PC
        OS/Version: other
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: Core
        AssignedTo: dev@ant.apache.org
        ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

If you compile some Java code with debugging enabled and try to use a socket
appender like this:

log4j.rootLogger=DEBUG, A1, SOCKET

log4j.appender.A1=org.apache.log4j.RollingFileAppender
log4j.appender.A1.File=${log.filename}
log4j.appender.A1.append=false
log4j.appender.A1.MaxFileSize=1000KB
log4j.appender.A1.MaxBackupIndex=2
log4j.appender.A1.layout=org.apache.log4j.PatternLayout
log4j.appender.A1.layout.ConversionPattern=%p %d{ISO8601} [%t] - %m (%F:%L)%n

log4j.appender.SOCKET=org.apache.log4j.net.SocketAppender
log4j.appender.SOCKET.RemoteHost=host
log4j.appender.SOCKET.Port=8888

The example above works OK when running Logfactor 5. However, if the first line
is:

log4j.rootLogger=DEBUG, SOCKET, A1

or

log4j.rootLogger=DEBUG, SOCKET

The Location line in Logfactor5 doesn't show the function/line number info.

Do you have to specify a layout.ConversionPattern for a Socket appender to get
the line numbers? Is there some other reason (other than a bug) that the first
example works, but the other 2 don't?
